Vocal Point, home of the Georgia Radio Reading Service, is expanding its mission of accessibility by launching an Audio Description Project to enhance media access for individuals who are blind or visually impaired. This initiative will provide high-quality audio descriptions for various forms of visual content, including live events, educational materials, and digital media.
By offering detailed narration of key visual elements, Vocal Point aims to create a more inclusive experience for audiences who rely on auditory information to engage with the world. Through partnerships with cultural institutions, theaters, and community organizations, we will ensure that audio description becomes a standard feature in entertainment, education, and public spaces.

Internships
The Vocal Point ‘NextWave’ Internship Program is designed to provide students and young professionals with hands-on experience in nonprofit media services, focusing on accessibility and community outreach for people with print disabilities. The program will offer valuable professional development, exposure to the nonprofit sector, and an opportunity to contribute meaningfully to the mission of Vocal Point.
Mentorship Program
Guided Voices: A Vocal Point Mentorship Program for New Journeys is a listener-focused initiative designed to support individuals who are newly blind or experiencing recent vision loss. Through one-on-one peer mentorship, the program connects mentees with experienced Vocal Point listeners who have navigated similar challenges. Mentors provide emotional support, practical guidance, and encouragement as mentees adjust to blindness and begin building confidence in using assistive technology, accessing resources, and engaging with our content. The mentorship lasts 6 to 9 months, with regular check-ins and personalized conversations tailored to the mentee’s needs. Guided Voices aims to reduce isolation, foster independence, and strengthen the listener community by empowering individuals through connection and shared lived experience.
